REWA SADAT, CHINIOT: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has said that governor’s rule is akin to surgery and should be avoided if “antibiotics can work,” emphasizing that dialogue and constitutional methods must be given priority. He alleged that the previous provincial government left Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in its worst condition in terms of corruption and governance, particularly in health and administrative affairs.

Talking to media after offering condolences on the demise of Ghulam Murtaza Shah, father of Syed Inayat Alisha, alongside Mehr Ghulam Farid Kathia, Mian Ashfaq and others, the governor said KP CM Sohail Afridi should remain focused on his province instead of being preoccupied with Adiala Jail. He stressed that maintaining coordination with the federation is essential for the betterment of the province and for securing KP’s constitutional rights through evidence and dialogue.

Governor Kundi said that protests whenever foreign delegations visit Pakistan damage the country’s image. He urged the Punjab chief minister to shift Imran Khan to another jail, adding that verbal abuse and confrontational politics serve no purpose. “We do not negotiate with terrorists,” he remarked.

Responding to questions, he claimed that PTI leaders themselves want to sideline Imran Khan, alleging that political and financial interests are being served while he remains incarcerated. He criticized special jail facilities, saying that providing gym access and special food to one prisoner is unfair to others and violates jail rules.

He reiterated that the 28th Amendment would come under discussion and urged NAB not to become an “institution of abduction,” demanding accountability in cases such as the Kohistan Rs50 billion scandal and the Billion Tree scandal.

On foreign affairs, the governor said Pakistan has hosted Afghan refugees for four decades but visa requirements will now be enforced. He clarified that differences exist with the Afghan government, not the Afghan people, and warned against India and Israel using Afghan soil against Pakistan. He concluded by saying that global confidence in Pakistan is improving, with increasing international engagements and business interest.
