LAHORE: torch relay of the 35th National Games arrived at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Thursday. Punjab Olympic Association CEO Idrees Haider Khawaja, Olympians and athletes handed over the torch to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi.

Director Sports LCWU Dr. Sameera Sattar, sports administrators from various colleges and a large number of students were present on the occasion. The torch relay received a grand welcome upon its arrival at the university.
In her remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi said that the arrival of the torch relay at LCWU is a great honour for the institution. She expressed hope for the strong performance of the Punjab contingent and confidence that Punjab will win the trophy.
More than 11,000 players and officials from different provinces and departments will participate in the National Games, including 4,663 registered athletes — 2,566 men and 2,097 women — who will compete in various sports.
The arrival of provincial and departmental contingents will begin from December 4, while regular competitions will also start the same day. The closing ceremony will be held on December 13. President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony, while the Prime Minister of Pakistan will attend the closing ceremony.
