LAHORE: A meeting of the Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah was held in Lahore, where he highlighted the growing public trust in the FTO office. Speaking at the event, Dr. Jah said that over the past four years, the institution has focused on raising awareness about the role of the Federal Tax Ombudsman, and has worked to build trust and respect among taxpayers.

As a result of these efforts, the number of complaints submitted has surged significantly — from 13,000 cases last year to 23,000 in just the first six months of the current year. This surge reflects increasing public confidence in the institution and its swift resolution of grievances.
During the briefing on the performance of the FTO, held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah emphasized that the FTO ensures quick and cost-effective justice, resolving public complaints in an average of just 34 days. He further revealed that in recent months, refunds amounting to Rs. 22.79 billion have been facilitated for taxpayers.
Prominent participants of the Advisory Committee meeting included LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad and senior journalist and analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami. They stressed the need for a comprehensive strategy to enhance trust between traders and the government.
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah reiterated his commitment to making the FTO more effective through consultation with all stakeholders.
