LAHORE – Renowned engineer Amir Zameer Khan has been appointed secretary general of the Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) for a three-year term, according to an official notification issued on Monday.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the IEP Central Council after detailed consultation among its members. IEP President Engineer Sohail Bashir nominated Amir Zameer Khan for the post, and the council approved the nomination unanimously with a 100 percent vote, showing full confidence in his leadership.
Amir Zameer Khan is currently serving as chief organizer of The Engineer Pakistan and is also a member of the governing body of the Pakistan Engineering Council. He has formally assumed charge of his new office.
Congratulatory messages poured in following the appointment. Federal Minister for Planning and Development Engineer Ahsan Iqbal and Engineer Javed Saleem Qureshi congratulated Amir Zameer Khan on his new role. In their messages, they expressed confidence that he would continue to play a key role in keeping engineers united and strengthening the profession.
They said his appointment would further solidify the Institution of Engineers Pakistan and help it move in the right direction. Observers believe the decision has put the right man in the right place, and expectations are high that Amir Zameer Khan will hit the ground running to serve the engineering community.
