According to police and court sources, Rajab Butt was surrounded and attacked by several lawyers soon after he arrived. During the incident, he sustained injuries to his jaw and mouth, causing visible bleeding, while his shirt was reportedly torn. The violence caused chaos within the court premises, forcing court officials and police to intervene and control the situation.
Rajab Butt fell to the ground due to the impact of the assault and was immediately provided first aid at the scene before being shifted to a hospital for medical evaluation. Police stated that his condition is now stable.
Despite the unrest, the court briefly proceeded with the matter and extended his interim bail until January 13. The hearing was adjourned without any arguments due to the disorder.
The motives behind the attack are still unclear, and no statement has yet been issued by any lawyers’ association. Police authorities have begun collecting CCTV footage from Karachi City Court and have assured that legal action will be taken against those involved, emphasizing that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands.
