LAHORE — The mysterious killing of a 62-year-old woman in Raiwind has taken an unexpected turn, ending in the arrest of her own son-in-law — the man police say pretended to mourn while secretly hiding the crime.
According to officials, DIG Investigation Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza took immediate notice of the brutal murder of Raeesa Bibi, described as a cold-blooded “blind murder” with no apparent suspects at the outset. Under the supervision of SP Investigation Saddar, Moazzam Ali, a dedicated police team was formed to crack the case.

In-charge Investigation Raiwind City, Jamshed Abbas, with the help of the team, conducted a swift operation leading to the arrest of the prime accused — the victim’s son-in-law — who had allegedly strangled her to death following a domestic dispute. Police say what made the case chilling was the suspect’s behavior after the crime: he actively took part in burial arrangements, standing alongside family members, hiding any sign of guilt.
SP Moazzam Ali revealed that the accused had been living in the same house as the victim. “Despite committing the heinous act, he remained present through every stage, even the funeral, pretending to be a grieving relative,” he said. The arrest, officials note, was made possible due to professional expertise and modern investigative technology.
DIG Syed Zeeshan Raza vowed strict action, saying that no leniency will be shown toward those who commit violence against women and children. He further announced that a strong challan will be submitted to ensure the culprit receives strict punishment.
Praising the officers involved, DIG Raza also announced commendation certificates for the police team whose efforts led to this breakthrough.
