LAHORE: Lahore Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order in the provincial capital during Christmas, with more than 6,000 police officers and personnel to be deployed across the city.

A Lahore Police spokesperson said in a statement issued on Wednesday. that the arrangements include the deployment of 12 superintendents of police (SPs), 36 SDPOs, 109 station house officers (SHOs) and 311 other officers and personnel to perform security duties.
According to the spokesperson, a total of 622 churches in Lahore have been categorized into four security tiers — A, B, C and D. Of these, 59 churches fall under Category A, 84 under Category B, 378 under Category C and 101 under Category D.
The security plan also includes the deployment of 22 Police Response Unit (PRU) teams, 41 Dolphin Squad teams, nine Elite Force teams and nine Special Squad teams. To further strengthen security for the Christian community, CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk-through gates will be installed at churches. Women police officers will also be specially deployed to ensure the safety of women and children.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that robust security arrangements have been made for churches across the city. He added that Lahore Police were providing comprehensive security for places of worship and religious events of the Christian community.
The CCPO directed that special attention be paid to security at churches, parks and recreational venues and instructed supervisory officers to remain present in the field to personally oversee security arrangements. He added that Lahore Police remained fully committed to ensuring the protection of minority places of worship.٭٭٭٭٭
