LAHORE, Dec 18: In view of Christmas and New Year celebrations, Lahore police have intensified their crackdown against one-wheeling, arresting 2,372 offenders so far this year, spokesperson Lahore Police said on Wednesday.

According to the spokesperson, 2,221 cases have been registered against one-wheelers at various police stations across the city. The spokesperson added that arrests included 536 suspects from Model Town Division, 519 from Cantonment, 456 from Civil Lines, 330 from City Division, 290 from Iqbal Town and 241 from Saddar Division.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that indiscriminate action was underway against those involved in one-wheeling and motorcycle racing. He said Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) teams had been deployed in the field to ensure complete control over the menace.
Terming one-wheeling and racing as deadly practices, the CCPO urged youngsters not to put their lives at risk and to refrain from illegal motorcycle alterations. He stressed that adherence to traffic laws was a hallmark of civilized nations.
The CCPO also appealed to the citizens to immediately report incidents of one-wheeling and racing to the police helpline 15.
