In the latest Bloomberg world’s richest families list, the Walton family of the United States — owners of retail giant Walmart — remains the wealthiest family in the world with about $513.4 billion in combined fortune. Their continued success is driven by Walmart’s massive global footprint and strong retail performance. Bloomberg’s report notes that the top 25 richest families now hold about $2.9 trillion in combined wealth, growing by more than $358 billion over the past year.
Among the top families, three influential Arab dynasties also feature prominently: the Al Nahyan family of the UAE, the Al Saud family of Saudi Arabia, and Qatar’s Al Thani family, highlighting the continued economic power of ruling houses in the Gulf region.
On the individual wealth front, Elon Musk has surged ahead to become the richest person on the planet in 2025, with a historic net worth exceeding $600 billion driven by Tesla’s performance and the growing valuation of SpaceX ahead of its planned IPO.
Following Musk, tech billionaires continue to dominate the top ranks. Alphabet co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin hold the second and third positions respectively, bolstered by strong gains in Alphabet’s stock amid enthusiasm over AI breakthroughs
.Other major individual fortunes include Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bernard Arnault, who remain among the world’s richest, reflecting the outsized influence of tech, luxury, and retail sectors on global wealth rankings.
Economic analysts say that while family fortunes grow steadily through diversified long-term holdings, individual billionaire wealth can swing rapidly with stock market moves, IPOs, and sectoral trends — especially in technology and space exploration, which have been key drivers of wealth creation this year.
