LAHORE: meeting of the Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee-II (PAC-II) was held at the Punjab Assembly under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Haider Gillani (H.I), MPA. Officers from the Assembly Secretariat and other relevant departments attended the meeting.

Audit paras relating to the accounts of the Emergency Services Department were taken up for discussion.
The committee examined several audit objections, including irregular cash-based procurement of miscellaneous items worth Rs23.589 million, misclassification of expenditure amounting to Rs2.934 million, and non-deduction of taxes involving Rs1.451 million. Other issues discussed included non-preparation of bid evaluation reports in the procurement of medicines worth Rs22.41 million, irregular expenditure of Rs17.222 million on vehicle repairs, misprocurement related to printing and publication amounting to Rs5.709 million, and failure to auction unserviceable stock, causing wastage of public funds.
The committee appreciated the recoveries already made and directed the department concerned to ensure recovery of the remaining amounts on a priority basis.
