LAHORE, December 1: Lahore Police intensified ongoing anti-smog operations, arresting 441 individuals and registering 446 cases across the provincial capital since the launch of the latest campaign on November 1.

According to a statement issued by the Lahore Police spokesperson, 422 people were arrested for emissions from factories, shops and brick-kilns. Another 10 individuals were taken into custody for burning tyres, plastic and shopping bags, while 9 were arrested for burning crop residues and waste.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that police were ensuring strict enforcement of government SOPs regarding air-pollution control. He added that Lahore Police is extending full support to all relevant departments during anti-smog campaign.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana while directing officials to intensify the crackdown instructed Traffic Police to continue action against smoke-emitting vehicles. He further directed to ensure special checkpoints at the city’s entry and exit points to curb movement of vehicles contributing to pollution.
