LAHORE: has once again topped the list of the most polluted cities, with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at an average of 330 yesterday. Despite official claims, no significant reduction in pollution levels has been observed so far. In Kahna, the AQI reached 510, while Gujranwala recorded a hazardous level of 530.

According to monitoring websites, thousands of people across Punjab, including Lahore, are suffering from respiratory illnesses triggered by severe air pollution. The Punjab Environment Department maintains that SOPs are being implemented, and anti-smog guns and other equipment are being used to reduce smog in the provincial capital.
The Meteorological Department has forecast a further drop in temperatures. It says the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions expected in the northern areas during the mornings and nights. Light fog may appear at a few locations in the plains of Punjab at night.
During the past 24 hours, the weather has remained cold and dry in most areas of the country.
