LAHORE, November 22: Lahore Police have arrested 455 suspects this year as part of an ongoing crackdown against smog-related violations, the police spokesperson said on Saturday.

According to the spokesperson, multiple FIRs have been registered across the city. A total of 410 people were arrested for emitting hazardous smoke from factories, shops, brick kilns and other industrial or commercial locations.
Additionally, 22 suspects were arrested for burning tyres, plastic and shopping bags, while 23 others were held for burning crop residue and waste material—activities that significantly contribute to smog formation.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana reaffirmed that the crackdown against air polluters will continue, with Lahore Police supporting all relevant departments in enforcing environmental laws.
He added that Safe City Authority cameras are being used to identify pollution sources, and directed officials to ensure strict, indiscriminate action. He also urged the public to play their part in reducing air pollution.
