LAHORE, November 18: Lahore police have arrested 15,791 individuals since October 1 in an ongoing crackdown on illegal weapons and public display of arms. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Lahore police in a statement issued here on Tuesday. According to the spokesperson, police registered a total of 8,078 cases across various police stations during ongoing operations.

The recovered weapons include 47 Kalashnikovs, 366 rifles, 320 guns and 7,257 pistols.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that indiscriminate action against illegal weapons and their display is under way. He directed police officers to take immediate action against violations of arms license regulations and enforce a zero-tolerance policy against those involved in “dala culture” and public exhibition of firearms. He further instructed officers to maintain strict surveillance of previously convicted individuals involved in possessing and selling of illegal weapons, stressing that maintaining law and order in Lahore remains his top priority.
