LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee-III (PAC-III) expressed strong displeasure over the poor preparation of the Health Department regarding audit reports and raised concerns about shortfalls in receipts and discrepancies in their verification process.

The meeting, chaired by Committee Chairman Ahmed Iqbal Chaudhry, reviewed 76 audit reports related to district health departments for the fiscal year 2020–21. Of these, 40 reports were referred back to the Health Department for further investigation.

The committee directed the department to submit its findings to PAC-III within 30 days. Members expressed dissatisfaction with both the Audit and Health Departments, stressing the need for improved audit preparation and transparent verification procedures.
The Audit Department was instructed to appear in the next meeting with better preparation.
The meeting was attended by Rana Muhammad Arshad, Shaukat Raja, Qudsia Batool, Tanveer Aslam Malik, Raja Sagheer Ahmed, Malik Khalid Mahmood Babar, and Manan Khan.
