In response to rising terrorism events, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have created the province’s first-ever sniper squad to enhance counter-terrorism operations.
According to the Central Police Office, the newly formed unit will operate under the Elite Force and has been equipped with advanced weaponry, modern gear, and specialized training.

Police officials said the snipers underwent three months of intensive training, which included long-distance marksmanship, identification of hidden targets, and operating effectively in rugged and complex terrains.
Each squad will comprise 10 trained personnel, armed with state-of-the-art sniper rifles and thermal imaging devices designed to ensure accuracy even in low-visibility or harsh weather conditions.
Initially, the sniper squads will be deployed in southern districts, Malakand Division, and border areas, where counter-terrorism operations are actively underway.
The Central Police Office said the initiative aims to boost the force’s operational efficiency and improve its performance in challenging environments.
Officials added that the new sniper squad will act as a frontline unit against terrorism and represents a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
