LAHORE: The two-day “Leadership Development Program” was successfully conducted at Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Lahore from Thursday, 16 to Friday, 17 October, 2025.

The Executive Development Institute arranged a two-days’ “Leadership Development Program” for senior officials and decision-makers in both the public and private sectors.
A diverse group of 50 participants attended from across the country, including civil officers from both federal and provincial governments, in addition to private sector executives, including academia. Key representatives from prominent ministries and departments comprised the Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly of Pakistan, Establishment Division, Ministry of Law & Justice, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority(PEMRA), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Water & Development Authority(WAPDA), Higher Education Commission(HEC), Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution(EOBI), Military Land & Cantonments(ML&C), FG Public Fazia High School(FGEI), RIPHA Internatioinal University, Civil Services Academy(CSA), Accountant General Punjab(AGP), Prime Minister’s Youth Programme-Punjab, Lahore Waste Management Company(LWMC), National Power Parks Managmenet Company(NPPMCL), Live-Stock & Dairy Development Department, Pesawar High Court, Forman Christian College University(FCCU), Lahore Garrison Univeristy (LGU), Adam & E-Travels(Pvt.) Ltd., Sindh Bank Ltd., Karachi and NSPP-Lahore.
Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, in his opening remarks, highlighted that the Leadership Development Program is designed to strengthen professional leadership skills and promote excellence in public service. Covering team dynamics, leadership styles, emotional intelligence, motivation, diversity and innovation, the program fosters learning through interaction and exchange.
Afterwards, Dr. Jamil Afaqi, Rector NSPP, expressed his views that he is delighted to welcome all participants to the Leadership Program at Executive Development Institute, which is committed to promoting leadership excellence and effective governance. This program offers targeted training for professionals, highlighting the importance of emotional intelligence and ethical integrity in our interconnected world. Participants are urged to contemplate their leadership styles and to engage wholeheartedly for a meaningful and impactful learning experience.
Mr. Kamran Ahmad, Director EDI, presented a comprehensive overview of the Institute’s performance and strategic goals. He emphasized that EDI’s planning process ensures the careful selection of experts from professional, academic and training domains to provide a holistic and integrated perspective on emerging issues. He also highlighted the success of previous programs, noting the diverse participation of officers from across the country.
The eminent Guest Speakers of the first-day were, Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik, Renowned, Educational & Policy Expert / Former Federal Secretary, Govt. of Pakistan, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Economist / Former Advisor to the Prime Minister & Governor SBP, Mr. Kamran Lashari, Former Chief Secretary & Ex-Chairman, CDA / Former DG, Walled City of Lahore Authority, Prof. Dr. Sa’ad B. Malik, Consultant Psychiatrist / Specialist in Mental Health & Psychiatric Disorder. They covered the topics of “Understanding Team Dnamics & High Performance”, “Leadership and Management”, “Leadership and Innovation in Public Section, Communication & Emotional Intelligence”, respectively.
On the second-day, Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Malik, Professor at LUMS, delivered an in-depth three hours workshop on the topic “Conflict Management & Negotiation Skills”, Air Comd. Khalid Chishti (R), SI/S.Bt(M), Patron-in-Chief, Quaid-e-Azam Foundation-USA, Founder/Chairman Aspire Pakistan, Faculty Member, LUMS shared insights on “Leadershsip Styles & Team Effectiveness” and Dr. Rizwan Basharat, Specialist in Intellectual Property Law / Expert in Patents, Trademarks & Innovation Management, presented an enlighting session on “AI and Emerging Technologies for Leaders”.
Lastly, Rector NSPP, in his closing remarks, emphasized that the Leadership Development Program underscored the importance of vision, influence and collaboration as pillars of effective leadership. He commended participants for gaining insights into teamwork, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution and encouraged them to foster inclusive teams and lead with integrity in advancing national development.
Participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and engagement throughout the Q&A sessions, expressing sincere appreciation to EDI-NSPP for the well-executed Leadership Development Program. Concluding the program, Rector NSPP, Dr. Jamil Afaqi delivered a note of thanks and together with the Dean EDI, Dr. Naveed Elahi, presented certificates to the participants in recognition of their active participation and commitment to learning.
