LAHORE: The Karsaz tragedy was a conspiracy to eliminate the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and all workers who sacrificed their lives for the party must unite for their cause. These views were expressed at a prayer ceremony organized by PPP Lahore on the 18th anniversary of the Karsaz tragedy.

The ceremony, held to pay tribute to the martyrs, was addressed by Rana Jamil Manj, Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, Chaudhry Riaz, Shahida Jabeen, Mian Ayub, Nargis Khan, Amjad Jatt, Arif Khan, Munir Dagra, Fayyaz Bhatti, Aamir Naseer Butt, and Mir Shakeel Channi.
The event was organized under the leadership of PPP Lahore General Secretary Rana Jamil Manj and Vice President Chaudhry Riaz.
Among the participants were Amjad Jatt, Nadeem Malik, Arif Khan, Dr. Khalid Javed Jan, Nargis Khan, Shahida Jabeen, Wajid Alisha, Shamim Malik, Rana Ashir Nisar, Fayyaz Bhatti, Zeeshan Shami, Basharat Siddiqui, Rao Shujaat, Parveen Sheikh, Mir Shakeel Channi, Imran Khokhar Advocate, Adnan Khokhar Advocate, Tahir Ghalib, Ayesha Qadir, Nadia Shah, Dr. Waseem Sial, Dr. Rafique, Samreen Tabassum, Shahnaz Kanwal, Aqib Sarwar, Kamran Dar, and a large number of party workers.
Addressing the ceremony, the speakers said that they salute those who laid down their lives for democracy and Pakistan’s survival. “We must follow in the footsteps of the martyrs and confront the enemies of Pakistan with courage and unity,” they emphasized.
The speakers reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs would never be forgotten. “The PPP never forgets its martyrs — that is why we stand together today,” they said, noting that 90 percent of the Karsaz martyrs were members of the People’s Youth.
They further pledged to continue the mission of the party’s fallen heroes and to make Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Allama Yousaf Awan, head of the PPP Ulema and Mashaikh Wing, led prayers for the martyrs. The ceremony concluded with the lighting of candles in memory of the victims and tributes paid to their courage and sacrifice.
