LAHORE – A prestigious ceremony to launch the book of Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, titled “Mohtasib Ki Diary (The Chronicle of an Ombudsman’s Days and Nights) held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

FTO Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, Professor Khalid Mahmood Gondal, and others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers paid rich tributes to the services of Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, acknowledging his unmatched dedication in transforming the office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman into a truly service-oriented institution. They said that under his leadership, the Ombudsman’s office has become a beacon of relief and justice for the public, reflecting genuine concern for addressing people’s grievances. They also lauded his literary and intellectual contributions, saying that his writings not only highlight his personal experiences but also pave the way for reform, learning and social awareness.
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah shared the inspiration behind his book and said that “Mohtasib Ki Diary” is a candid reflection of his daily experiences, struggles and efforts to resolve the complaints of ordinary citizens. He said that institutions exist to serve the people and provide swift justice, stressing that any delay in redressal diminishes their utility. He said that the office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman remains a reliable platform for timely relief, fairness, and accountability.
LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad described Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah as a precious national asset who has consistently guided the nation with sincerity, honesty and service to humanity. He said that Dr. Jah’s writings are not just an account of his professional journey but also serve as an inspiration for the younger generation and a source of encouragement for the business community. His work embodies the spirit of service, integrity, and reform, values that our society needs to embrace.
Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry and other speakers praised the book for capturing not only the essence of Dr. Jah’s journey but also for promoting a culture of accountability, institutional strengthening and reform through knowledge.
At the end, the book was formally unveiled in an atmosphere of admiration and respect. The participants said that such intellectual and literary events should be organized more frequently, as they contribute significantly to social awareness, institutional reforms and nation-building.
