LAHORE – Fed up with months of incomplete road construction, traders of Ichra Market blocked the main Ferozepur Road on Wednesday, accusing authorities of negligence and apathy.

The protest was led by Ichra Market General Secretary Abbas Sheikh, who said the never-ending construction work had badly hit business activities and made life miserable for both traders and citizens.
“Our sales have dropped to the lowest level in years. Customers avoid Ichra because of dust and broken roads. We demand immediate completion of the project, otherwise we will intensify our protest,” Abbas Sheikh told reporters at the protest site.
Citizens also voiced frustration over the poor state of the market.
“It has become impossible to breathe because of the heavy dust. The government doesn’t seem to care about our health or daily struggles,” said Muhammad Ali, a local resident stuck in traffic during the protest.
The traders warned that if the government does not act swiftly, they will stage larger demonstrations in the coming days. Meanwhile, traffic on Ferozepur Road remained blocked for several hours, causing massive inconvenience to commuters.
