LAHORE: In the backdrop of ongoing cricket matches and the Asia Cup cricket tournament, Lahore Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal gambling operations across the provincial capital.

This was stated by the spokesman Lahore Police here today.
The spokesman said that law enforcement agencies have arrested a total of 2,791 suspects involved in gambling activities so far this year.
A total of 713 cases have been registered in various police stations throughout the city. Authorities have also seized over Rs130.83 million in betting money from the apprehended individuals.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana has directed the Lahore Police to accelerate the campaign against gambling dens and online betting platforms. “No leniency will be shown to those who are putting the future of our youth at stake,” said the CCPO.
He further instructed police units to conduct intelligence-based raids on gambling dens and to tighten the noose around individuals involved in online gambling. Kamyana emphasized the need for law enforcement to make effective use of modern technology in identifying both physical and digital gambling networks.
Highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation, the CCPO urged the police to work closely with the Prosecution Department to ensure that individuals involved in gambling are brought to justice.
He also stressed the need for strict surveillance of fraudulent mobile applications, including those used for online gambling.
“Our mission is to establish a crime-free society,” said Kamyana, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to tackling illegal gambling in all its forms.
