SIALKOT: Grand Asian University Sialkot is set to host the 3rd National Workshop on UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for Pakistani universities on September 17–18, 2025. The two-day event will bring together leading voices from higher education institutions nationwide to advance sustainability practices and environmental responsibility.

The workshop will engage higher education leadership, QEC professionals, and sustainability focal persons in promoting green campus strategies and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academia. In line with the Higher Education Commission (HEC)’s directives encouraging universities to adopt the UI GreenMetric framework, the HEC has also issued letters urging participation from both public and private institutions.
Key themes include green campus initiatives, environmental protection, renewable energy use, energy efficiency, waste management and recycling, water conservation, sustainable transportation, and embedding sustainability in academic curricula and research. The event aims to provide a platform for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and boosting sustainability performance across universities.
Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, the Chairmen of HEC and PHEC, the Minister for Planning and Development, and the Minister of State for Climate Change are expected to attend. Their participation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to the UN SDGs and sustainable development.
The initiative reflects the vision of Mr. Mohammad Islam, Chairman of the Board of Governors of Grand Asian University Sialkot, a strong advocate for green policies and climate action. Following the success of the university’s 1st International Conference on Climate Change in 2024, this workshop reaffirms its dedication to environmental stewardship and alignment with global sustainability goals.
