LAHORE: A high-level meeting on ongoing flood relief operations in Narowal was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and Chairman Punjab Bait-ul-Mal Khawaja Muhammad Waseem.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Narowal Syed Hassan Raza gave a comprehensive briefing on the rescue and relief efforts underway in the flood-affected areas of the district. He apprised the participants about the establishment of relief camps, provision of food, medicines, shelter, fodder and veterinary medicines for livestock, along with other essential facilities being extended to the victims. He also shared updates on road restoration and strengthening of flood protection embankments.
Provincial Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora commended the Deputy Commissioner and his team for their outstanding performance during the crisis. He stressed that strong coordination among departments engaged in road rehabilitation and relief operations was crucial to ensure timely and effective support for the flood-affected communities.
Chairman Punjab Bait-ul-Mal Khawaja Muhammad Waseem instructed that roads in rural areas should be repaired using bricks and stones instead of mud to ensure durability and sustainability.
Chairman Punjab Public Accounts Committee Ahmad Iqbal Chaudhary emphasized the need to further strengthen relief camps. He suggested engaging teachers, who are currently on vacation, in relief activities, ensuring timely provision of meals for rescue personnel, and deploying doctors instead of paramedical staff at relief camps. He also highlighted the importance of keeping anti-snake venom vaccines readily available in the camps.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the district administration and various departments engaged in ongoing rescue and relief operations.
