LAHORE – On the occasion of Independence Day, Pakistan marked a major leap forward in technology as engineers from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore successfully developed the country’s first locally-manufactured welding robot, *Dexter 6 Pro*. The groundbreaking innovation was unveiled at a ceremony held at UET Lahore.

Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat attended as the chief guest. UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir congratulated his team, calling Dexter 6 Pro a remarkable and historic achievement that showcases Pakistan’s growing expertise in technology and engineering.
Dr. Munir said the state-of-the-art robot can perform industrial-standard MIG welding with unmatched speed, precision, and reliability. He credited the success to the tireless efforts, determination, and patriotism of UET’s engineers.
The robot is designed to improve welding processes across all sectors — from small workshops to large industries — making them faster, safer, and compliant with international standards. The project aims to foster innovation, productivity, and self-reliance in Pakistan’s manufacturing industry.
The Vice Chancellor concluded that this achievement is living proof that true freedom is not only about celebration, but also about the power to build and progress through skill and innovation.
