LAHORE – The People’s Party Lahore General Council has unanimously demanded that the NA-129 by-election ticket be allotted to Asif Mehmood Nagra, declaring their resolve to contest the poll to win, not to lose.

In a meeting held at the PPP Lahore People’s Secretariat, attended by district presidents, general secretaries, zonal presidents, ticket holders, and workers from the Lahore Division, participants urged that Nagra’s name be unanimously forwarded to the central leadership.
Attendees included Rana Jamil Munj, Umar Sharif Bukhari, Ashraf Khan, Aurangzeb Burki, Nargis Khan, Shahida Jabeen, Asif Mehmood Nagra, Zahid Zulfiqar, Amjad Jutt, Mir Shakeel Channi, Arif Khan, Haji Aziz ur Rehman Chan, Chaudhry Riaz, Naseer Ahmed, Aamir Naseer Butt, Shakeel Pasha, Wajid Ali Shah, Sheikh Roshan, Waqas Mansha Prince, Ayesha Ghauri, Munir Dagra, and others.
Dozens of workers, including Basharat Siddiqui, Shahid Kazmi, Manzar Abbas Khokhar, Fayyaz Bhatti, Iqbal Khan, Khawar Naheed Mohil, Rubina Jamil, Rana Ashar Nisar, Riyaz Jatt, Javed Ilyas Jaji, Hameed Butt, Rao Shujat, Farhat Yasmin, Shabana Gul, Ezra Shuja, Mahrukh Aamir, Safiya Anjum, Shamim Akhtar, Noor Jahan, Tanveer Anis, Hafeezah Bibi, and Maryam Bibi, were also present.
Party leaders urged passing a resolution that PPP workers will only vote for party members. They criticized the recommendation of a ticket for the daughter of a person who had allegedly written poems against Shaheed Bhutto and Bibi, reiterating their demand for Nagra’s nomination.
They added that whatever decision the leadership makes, Asif Nagra will remain with the party, but urged the central leadership to promptly finalize Lahore’s organizational matters.
