LAHORE: As part of Minority Week, Independence Day celebrations, and to pay tribute to the Pakistan Army, the Department of Human Rights & Minority Affairs, in collaboration with the Christian Council Pakistan, organized colorful sports competitions among minority children at the Punjab Stadium, Nishtar Park Sports Complex.CM Maryam seeks transparency and merit for appointment and hiring purposes in PERA

The competitions began at 4:00 PM and continued until 9:00 PM, with more than 500 boys and girls participating from various churches across Lahore, especially from Sijao Church Yohannabad and FGA Church Nagra Town. The event was further enhanced by the presence of international athletes. The competitions featured cricket, football, boxing, tug-of-war, badminton, kickboxing, powerlifting, and other sports. Sports coordinator Danish Mubarak ensured excellent arrangements throughout the event.
Addressing the event as Chief Guest, Secretery HR&MA Farid Ahmed Tarrar encouraged the young athletes, saying that today’s event is proof that all communities in Pakistan are bound together by unity and love. Sports are not only a healthy activity but also foster tolerance, teamwork, and positive thinking among the youth. Department under the guidance of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz will continue its efforts to highlight the talent of the minority community. Minority Week reflects our firm commitment that followers of all religions living in Pakistan are equal citizens. On the occasion of Minority Week and Independence Day, we pay tribute to the Pakistan Army, whose sacrifices allow us to breathe in a free atmosphere. The Government of Punjab will continue to take every possible step for the prosperity, development, and national unity of the minority community.
On the arrival of the Guests, the Sports Committee presented a splendid march past. As the national anthem played, all athletes stood respectfully. Prayers for Pakistan’s progress and development were offered by Pastor Kashif Chand and Pastor Nadeem Barkat. Patriotic songs and a captivating aerobics display added to the festive spirit. In the closing ceremony, Farid Ahmed Tarrarawarded gold, silver, and bronze medals to the winning players. The event concluded with prayers and a spirit of national unity. The stadium was adorned with banners celebrating the success of Operation Baniyan Marsous, while participants chanted slogans in favor of the Pakistan Army and the beloved homeland.
