LAHORE– The Punjab government has extended the summer vacations in all public and private schools across the province till August 31, citing weather conditions.

According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, schools will now reopen from September 1, instead of mid-August as originally planned.
The decision comes in light of the ongoing monsoon rains and the extreme heat and humidity during dry spells. Officials said the move was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff, especially younger children who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
“Given the fluctuating weather and rising humidity, it’s best to give children some more time at home,” said Minister Hayat.
Parents are advised to stay tuned for updates, while schools have been instructed to resume regular academic activities from September 1 without further delay.
