ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across a broad range of mutually beneficial sectors, while jointly emphasizing the importance of regional peace and stability.

This consensus was reached during a meeting between the visiting President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Saturday.
Welcoming the Iranian President, President Zardari said Pakistan and Iran share fraternal relations rooted in a common religion, culture, history, and mutual respect. Both leaders discussed key regional and global developments and underlined the need for coordinated diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of conflicts and promote peace and security in the region.
President Zardari appreciated Iran’s principled stance on regional issues and acknowledged Tehran’s consistent support for regional collaboration. He expressed gratitude for Iran’s solidarity during critical moments in Pakistan’s history and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fostering a peaceful and prosperous future through closer cooperation with Iran.
The President also extended thanks to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, for his longstanding and vocal support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Condemning the recent unprovoked Israeli aggression against Iran, President Zardari praised the courage, unity, and resilience of the Iranian nation during the recent 12-day conflict. He expressed confidence that President Pezeshkian’s visit would help further strengthen the brotherly relations between the two neighbouring countries.
In response, President Pezeshkian thanked the leadership and people of Pakistan for their solidarity and support during the 12-day war. He also lauded Pakistan’s constructive and principled role in advocating de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy for the peaceful resolution of regional disputes.
