During the session, DIG Zeeshan heard 13 show-cause notices and 14 appeals submitted by police officers. After careful consideration, one inspector was dismissed from service on charges of misuse of authority. Additionally, eight officers were penalized following unsatisfactory responses to their respective show-cause notices.
Meanwhile, four officers were able to justify their actions, and their notices were filed without further action. In the appeal proceedings, six officers failed to satisfy the reviewing authority, and their penalties were upheld. However, in 13 cases, the DIG ordered a reduction in the punishments after reviewing the appeals.
DIG Zeeshan Raza stressed that the Punjab Police has a strong and effective mechanism for self-accountability. He affirmed that strict action will be taken against officers involved in corruption or abuse of power, with no tolerance for misconduct.
“The purpose of holding orderly room sessions is to strengthen the culture of internal accountability and discipline within the force,” said DIG Zeeshan. He further stated that hardworking, competent, and honest officers are the true assets of the police department and will always be recognized and supported.
