Number of Wi-Fi hotspots in Lahore increased from 230 to 430

LAHORE: the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority has further expanded the scope of the CM Free Wi-Fi Service. In Lahore alone, the number of active Wi-Fi hotspots has increased from 230 to 430, enabling more citizens to benefit from this digital facility. Initially launched in 11 districts, the free Wi-Fi service has now been extended to 22 districts across Punjab, where citizens can access free internet at over 710 locations.

This service is currently available in key cities including Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Hasan Abdal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree, among others. Citizens can conveniently use free Wi-Fi at these designated points. The free Wi-Fi system has been upgraded to Wi-Fi 6, the latest wireless technology, which has significantly improved internet speed and stability, allowing more users to connect efficiently at the same time.
So far, over 37.22 million users have benefited from this initiative, utilizing more than 905 terabytes of data. The service is effectively being used for emergency needs, online education, emails, Women Safety App, and real-time communication. PSCA spokesperson clarified that the CM Free Wi-Fi Service is strictly meant for emergency and essential usage, and not intended for video streaming or entertainment purposes. Following the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority remains committed to transforming Punjab into a modern digital province. The Free Wi-Fi Service will soon be expanded to cover the entire province.
