LAHORE: The Lahore Police have intensified operations against those involved in patronizing gambling dens across the city. According to the spokesman Lahore Police, 69 suspects were arrested in the past two weeks, and 17 cases were registered against the accused in different police stations. Additionally, stake-money worth more than 267,000 was also recovered during these operations.

So far this year, a total of 1,981 individuals have been arrested in various anti-gambling operations, he added. Police registered 512 cases in different police stations across the city and seized over Rs9.748 million from the accused, he further said.
Meanwhile, the Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana termed gambling as a “social evil” adding that targeted operations were being carried out to intensify the crackdown on both physical gambling dens and online gambling platforms.
The CCPO also instructed Station House Officers (SHOs) to keep a close watch on individuals with previous records of gambling activities in their respective areas. Moreover, he stressed to monitor social media accounts and applications promoting online gambling, to curb their influence.
