LAHORE: A ceremony was held in Okara to distribute free green tractors to farmers under the Punjab Chief Minister’s flagship program, Grow More Wheat. Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani distributed green tractors to 26 farmers who won through balloting. On this occasion, MPA Mian Muhammad Munir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ibrahim Arbab, PML-N leader Rao Muhammad Ajmal, Director Agriculture Extension Shahbaz Akhtar, Deputy Director Agriculture Muhammad Ijaz, along with a large number of Agriculture Department officers and farmers were present.
Director Agriculture Extension Sahiwal Shahbaz Akhtar gave a detailed briefing to farmers and cultivators about the farmer-friendly policies of the agriculture department. Free green tractors were distributed among the farmers of 26 lucky farmers across the district through a balloting.
The Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Livestock said on this occasion that the Chief Minister of Punjab has fulfilled another promise to the farmers and cultivators. Free tractors are being distributed to farmers across Punjab in a transparent manner through e-balloting. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is taking revolutionary steps for the development and promotion of agriculture. She highlighted that the current government has allocated a record Rs 123 billion in the budget, increasing the budget allocated for the agriculture sector from Rs 20 billion in the past. For the first time in history, green tractors were distributed to 10,000 farmers at a subsidy of Rs 1 million. Interest-free loans of Rs 75 billion were given to farmers through Kisan Cards.
Provincial Assembly Member Mian Muhammad Munir stated that the government is aware of the difficulties faced by farmers due to not purchasing wheat. Through other revolutionary programs, vigorous measures are being taken to compensate for the losses suffered by farmers and cultivators. He said that farmers and cultivators should not become tools of anti-national elements. Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all the problems of farmers and cultivators will be resolved on a priority basis. Farmers and cultivators sincerely thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for distributing free tractors.
