LAHORE: Security remained on high alert across the provincial capital on the 4th of Muharram-ul-Haram as part of the measures to ensure peace and order during the sacred month. A total of 400 Majalis and 17 mourning processions were held across Lahore.

According to the Lahore Police spokesman, over 3,000 officers and personnel were deployed for the security of Majalis and processions. The Majalis held included 45 categorized as ‘A’, 272 as ‘B’ and 83 as ‘C’.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that the city is on high alert to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram. He emphasized that strict implementation of the Loudspeaker Act, designated timings and prescribed routes for Majalis and processions will be ensured. To enhance the security of female mourners, lady police officers have been deployed and continuous monitoring is being conducted through dedicated control rooms.
In light of recent rains, the CCPO instructed relevant authorities to keep procession routes clear and accessible with the help of local administration. He also directed all wings of Lahore Police including the Traffic Police, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit to maintain optimal coordination throughout the security operations.
