LAHORE – In a shocking case of brutality, Lahore Police have apprehended the main suspect involved in a horrific incident in which a 12-year-old boy was set on fire in the Old Anarkali area.

According to official sources, the suspect doused the child with petrol and set him ablaze following a minor verbal altercation. The victim and the accused were both employed at a local jewelry shop. After committing the heinous act, the accused fled the scene.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation Lahore, Syed Zeeshan Raza, took immediate notice of the incident and ordered swift action. Following his directives, a special police team was constituted under the supervision of SP Civil Lines. The investigation was led by the Incharge Investigation of Old Anarkali Police Station, Muhammad Asif.
The police, using a combination of modern technology and human intelligence, managed to trace and arrest the suspect. DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza lauded the efforts of the team and emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against the perpetrator.
“This was an inhumane act. Such individuals deserve no leniency. A strong challan (charge sheet) will be prepared in light of the evidence to ensure the accused receives exemplary punishment,” said DIG Raza. He further stated that the protection of children from violence and exploitation remains a top priority for the police department.
He added that criminals who resort to violence against innocent children will be dealt with an iron hand. The police will not tolerate any act of cruelty and will continue to pursue justice relentlessly.
In recognition of their swift and effective action, DIG Zeeshan Raza announced commendation certificates for the police team involved in the arrest.
This incident has once again raised concerns over child safety and workplace violence. Citizens and rights organizations have called for stringent enforcement of child protection laws and improved monitoring of juvenile workers in various sectors.
The injured child is currently receiving treatment, and his condition is being closely monitored. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served, and such acts will not go unpunished in Lahore.
