Affected citizen from Jhang called Emergency Helpline 15 and sought assistance from Safe City
Rickshaw identified and suspect traced using advanced ANPR technology, leading to arrarrest

LAHORE: A rickshaw driver involved in stealing a citizen’s valuable belongings in Jhang has been arrested with the assistance of Safe City surveillance cameras. The incident occurred when the citizen accidentally dropped their valuables and the rickshaw driver picked them up and fled the scene.

The affected citizen immediately called the Emergency Helpline 15 and requested assistance from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. The Virtual Patrolling Officer promptly started tracing the suspect using Safe City cameras. With the help of advanced Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, the rickshaw was identified and its route was tracked.
Acting on the Safe City’s precise location information, local police apprehended the suspect. The stolen belongings were recovered and returned to the citizen, who expressed gratitude to the Safe City team for their timely response.
A spokesperson for PSCA stated that the use of modern cameras and technology has greatly improved the ability to quickly trace and prevent crimes. Citizens are urged to immediately report any emergencies or suspicious activities by calling Helpline 15.
