LAHORE: In anticipation of Muharram-ul-Haram, Lahore Police has intensified its crackdown on violations of the Punjab Sound System Regulation Act, 2015. According to the Lahore Police spokesman, a total of 861 individuals have been arrested and 636 FIRs registered this year in connection with sound system violations.

The spokesman stated that divisional breakdowns include 76 arrests in Iqbal Town, 233 in Sadar, 162 in Cantonment, 122 in Model Town, 164 in City Division and 104 in Civil Lines Division.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that police are actively targeting elements that pose a threat to public peace. He reaffirmed that strict enforcement of the Sound Act will be ensured for the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The CCPO directed divisional officers to maintain continuous liaison with all stakeholders to ensure implementation of the act, stating that adherence to legal provisions not only safeguards lives and property but also promotes a peaceful society.
