The session, chaired by Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, kicked off with loud protests from the opposition, who chanted slogans demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. The speaker sternly warned the opposition, stating, “Don’t mess with me, be good to me. Whether anyone knows me or not, Sardar Muhammad Ali knows.”
Amid the noise, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also took aim at Parliamentary Secretary for Energy Mansoor Azam over issues relating to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds and the performance of committee members, expressing sharp disapproval.
Despite the uproar, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique sought the floor to table a resolution regarding the Israeli strike on Iran. The Speaker promptly suspended routine proceedings to allow the resolution.
The resolution called upon the international community to play a proactive role, just as it had helped de-escalate the Pakistan-India conflict by pushing for a ceasefire. It urged immediate efforts to end Israel’s hostilities not just against Iran, but also against Palestine, and demanded that global powers fulfill their responsibilities in upholding peace and justice.
The house unanimously adopted the resolution, sending a strong signal of unity on an issue of international significance.
