LAHORE: The number of children affected by child labor in Pakistan has exceeded 20 million. According to the report, the number of child labor in Punjab is 14 percent and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11 percent. Inflation, poverty and ineffective government policies are causing an increase in child labor.

Pakistan ranks sixth in the world in terms of child labor. Today, Child Labor Day is being celebrated all over the world, including Pakistan.
In this regard, Chairperson Child Protection Bureau and Member Provincial Assembly Punjab Sara Ahmed said on the World Day Against Child Labor that
A resolution was passed by the Punjab Assembly to eliminate forced labor and child labor. According to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, children affected by forced labor and child labor are being provided protection. Children have the right to education instead of working in workshops and homes. Taking forced labor from children below the age of 15 and involving them in child labor is a punishable crime.
Children who are victims of forced labor are being provided with basic facilities including education, housing, and food at the Child Protection Bureau. It is the responsibility of parents to provide their children with education and a safe environment instead of subjecting them to forced labor.
