LAHORE: Lahore Police is actively working to enforce the Anti-Beggary Act. This year, a total of 2,280 individuals have been arrested for violating the Anti-Beggary Act, while 2,255 cases have been registered.

Spokesman for Lahore Police shared this information in a statement today. The spokesman revealed that the arrested individuals include 2,168 men, 100 women and 12 facilitators. Among the arrests, 529 individuals were apprehended in the City Division, 461 in the Cantt Division, 231 in the Civil Lines Division, 255 in the Saddar Division, 226 in the Iqbal Town Division and 466 in the Model Town Division.
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that strict actions against beggary are ongoing in the provincial capital. He assured that the implementation of the Anti-Beggary Act is being fully ensured. CCPO Lahore further stated that cases are being registered against professional beggars who force children to beg.
He also highlighted the use of modern technology to take effective action against the beggary mafia. Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that the platform of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau along with the Social Welfare Department would be utilized for the rehabilitation of underage beggars.
Issuing instructions, the CCPO Lahore directed that professional beggars be swiftly traced and apprehended through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority network at streets and intersections. He noted that beggary is a social scourge and a stain on society. He urged the citizens to assist Lahore Police in curbing beggary.
