LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a traffic safety action plan to modernize the traffic system in the province. Strict fines for violations of traffic rules, parental responsibilities, and comprehensive measures for road safety were approved.

Key decisions were taken in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to solve the problems facing the traffic sector, including fines up to 10 times, parents will be held responsible for driving underage children and a case will be registered. The vehicle will be confiscated for driving with a chain or other dangerous objects hanging outside the vehicle.
The meeting considered the remodeling of 372 traffic points in Punjab and 77 in Lahore, while it was ordered to immediately remove obstacles on Bedian and other busy roads. A heavy fine will be imposed for using mobile phones while driving. A ban has been imposed on parking trolleys loaded with goods on major roads,
A decision has been taken in principle to create five categories of traffic police, the categories of enforcement officer, traffic regulator, education licensing and public service officer will be created,
