The announcement was made during a high-level meeting held yesterday at Zubaida Hall, attended by more than 50 traders and exporters. Participants strongly demanded a structured and comprehensive support mechanism from LCCI to expand exports to ASEAN countries.
Speaking to the business community, Raja Hassan Akhtar assured exporters of his continued support. “I am always available to assist exporters. ASEAN countries are an excellent market for Pakistani products due to shared cultural and food-related similarities. These nations also hold Pakistan in high regard,” he said.
Raja Hassan Akhtar emphasized that boosting exports to ASEAN can significantly help reduce Pakistan’s fiscal deficit. He added that the ASEAN Export Help Desk at LCCI will serve as a key initiative in promoting Pakistani products in the region and guiding local businesses on trade requirements and opportunities.
Highlighting future plans, he announced that a “Trade and Tourism Conference on ASEAN” will be organized in July at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ambassadors and commercial consulates from all ten ASEAN countries will be invited to participate.
“This conference will play a pivotal role in fostering close diplomatic and commercial ties between Pakistan and ASEAN nations,” said Akhtar.
The initiative marks a significant step by LCCI towards expanding Pakistan’s export footprint and creating new avenues for trade and tourism collaboration with ASEAN economies.
