LAHORE: An awareness seminar on the prevention of diabetes and kidney diseases through lifestyle management was held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The session featured Dr. Waqar Ahmad Niaz, renowned herbalist and Chairman of Rehman Foundation, as the keynote speaker. The seminar was presided over by LCCI President Abuzar Shad, while Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir attended as the chief guest.

The event was organized by LCCI Executive Committee Member Firdous Nisar in collaboration with Rehman Foundation.
Firdous Nisar, in her remarks, said that raising awareness about health issues such as diabetes and kidney diseases is a pressing need. These diseases are spreading rapidly, and prevention is only possible through timely information and lifestyle changes. She added that the Lahore Chamber is committed not only to economic growth but also to social welfare. The collaboration with Rehman Foundation is a practical example of this vision.
Dr. Waqar Ahmad Niaz delivered a detailed lecture focusing on the harmful effects of junk food, sugary drinks, and processed snacks. He emphasized adopting a natural diet, regular exercise, and preventive measures to maintain good health and avoid chronic illnesses.
Dr. Shahid Nazir and Major Dr. Shahid Rasheed, MD of Rehman Foundation, also addressed the gathering and appreciated Dr. Waqar’s swift efforts in herbal research and public awareness.
Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir acknowledged the valuable contribution of Rehman Foundation and offered Dr. Waqar Ahmad Niaz the opportunity to train staff under the Health Department. He described this collaboration as a positive and encouraging development.
Director General Health Dr. Khalil Sukhani gave a comprehensive overview of the ministry’s performance and future plans for public health awareness.
LCCI President Abuzar Shad advised parents to keep children away from soft drinks and chocolates, calling them a major contributor to diabetes and kidney-related issues. He praised Dr. Waqar Ahmad Niaz’s research efforts and offered him a weekly lecture platform at LCCI to continue spreading health awareness.
Vice President Shahid Nazir congratulated all the guests and appreciated Firdous Nisar for organizing a highly meaningful seminar.
