Minister Emphasizes Improvement of Scholarships and Digital System

LAHORE: An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, to review the various phases of ongoing scholarship schemes for the minority community. It was decided in the meeting that the deadline for submitting scholarship applications would be extended from May 15 to May 20, to allow more students to benefit from the program.

While addressing the meeting, Ramesh Singh Arora stated that the welfare of minorities is among the top priorities of the government. He directed that the scrutiny process for scholarships must be conducted entirely on merit and in a transparent manner. The provincial minister proposed the introduction of a modern and integrated digital system that would consolidate all relevant data regarding minorities.
He emphasized the need to develop a mobile app and online portal that would include features such as e-scholarships, grants, complaint registration, and access to all related information. “We must collaborate with NADRA to strengthen and secure this system, ensuring that every deserving individual receives their rightful support in a timely manner,” he said.
He further added that the Department of Minority Affairs should have a comprehensive database and an effective grievance redressal mechanism to address the challenges faced by minority communities promptly. Ramesh Singh Arora instructed all institutions to work together to develop a model system that is not only transparent but also provides real and lasting relief to the minority population. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Punjab Social Protection Authority, Punjab Information Technology Board, Bank of Punjab, Secretary of Human Rights Ali Bahadur Qazi, Additional Secretary Rizwana Naveed, and other relevant officials.
