The tour was part of the “Volunteers in Police” internship program initiated by Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, to foster awareness and involvement of the younger generation in policing and investigative procedures.
During the visit, the students were given detailed briefings by DIG Investigation Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza and SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed. Other senior officers including SP Model Town Investigation Dr. Ayaz Hussain and DSP Cyber Crime Ahmad Usman also addressed the students, providing insights into the modern techniques and tools used in investigative work.
The visiting group, divided into 17 batches, explored various departments within the Investigation Headquarters, including branches dealing with cybercrime, criminal analysis, and forensic operations. The program is designed to give students hands-on exposure to real-time police functions and to enable them to select a field of interest within law enforcement.
Previously, these students have visited other key departments including the Elite Training Center Bedian, Operations Wing, Safe City Lahore, and the Police Training College in Chung. After completing their study tours, each student will choose one specific department to undertake a week-long specialized course tailored to that domain.
At the conclusion of the course, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar will distribute certificates to all participants, recognizing their engagement and successful completion of the program.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza expressed hope that such initiatives will help the youth better understand police work and investigative tools. “This exposure will not only spread awareness but will also play a positive role in crime prevention,” he said. “In today’s time, it is crucial for students to be familiar with advanced investigative techniques.”
The students appreciated the hospitality and cooperation extended by the police officers during their visit, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to engage with law enforcement in such a practical and informative setting.
