Virtual Women Police Station emerges as a trusted platform for women: PSCA Spokesperson

LAHORE: The Virtual Women Police Station of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority has taken swift action against a serious crime involving sexual assault and blackmail, resulting in the arrest of the accused.

According to details, a woman residing in Iqbal Town, Lahore, made a distress call to the Punjab Emergency Helpline 15. She reported that a man had gained her trust by promising marriage and lured her to a local hotel. The victim stated that the accused drugged her and then raped her. He later began blackmailing her.Upon receiving the complaint, the Virtual Women Police Station responded immediately by dispatching the relevant police team to the location. The police ensured the woman’s safety and arrested the accused on the spot. A case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint, and legal proceedings are now underway. According to the PSCA spokesperson, initial investigation revealed that the accused was residing in Dubai and was temporarily visiting Pakistan.The spokesperson added that more than 350,000 women have benefitted from the services of the Virtual Women Police Station so far. The platform has become a reliable source of support for women, enabling timely intervention in cases of harassment, blackmail, domestic violence, and other threats.
