LAHORE: In a major crackdown on proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals and court absconders, Lahore Police have arrested over 8,440 proclaimed offenders, 6,670 court absconders and more than 2,900 habitual criminals this year. This action is part of ongoing efforts to control crime and apprehend criminals.
This was stated by the spokesman Lahore Police in a statement issued on Monday.
The spokesman detailed the breakdown of arrests by division: 1,849 proclaimed offenders were arrested from the Cantt Division, 742 from Civil Lines, 1,751 from City Division, 1,728 from Iqbal Town, 1,154 from Saddar and 1,219 from Model Town. In terms of court absconders, 1,260 were arrested from the Cantt Division, 792 from Civil Lines, 1,412 from City Division, 1,898 from Iqbal Town, 641 from Saddar and 667 from Model Town, he added. Additionally, 426 habitual criminals were arrested from the Cantt Division, 246 from Civil Lines, 911 from City Division, 720 from Iqbal Town, 322 from Saddar and 278 from Model Town Division.
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that operations against proclaimed and habitual offenders will continue. He emphasized that the arrest of these criminals has led to a noticeable improvement in crime control. The CCPO instructed that efforts to apprehend proclaimed offenders be further enhanced by maintaining constant communication with complainants and sharing information effectively.
He urged the adoption of “hard-core policing” to prevent crimes and arrest proclaimed offenders. Bilal Siddique Kamyana also called for joint operations by police operations and investigation wings to ensure arrests. He added that human intelligence and modern technology would play a crucial role in bringing proclaimed offenders to justice. Furthermore, the CCPO highlighted the importance of effective investigations, ensuring swift completion of case files, and ensuring that criminals receive appropriate punishments.
To strengthen these efforts, he also advised monitoring social media platforms to track and apprehend offenders.
