LAHORE: 31st Convocation of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore was held, during which degrees were awarded to 2,676 students from the main and sub-campuses.

The breakdown included 1,847 undergraduate, 764 MSc/MPhil, and 65 PhD degrees.
In recognition of excellence, 71 gold medals were awarded to 46 outstanding students. Among them, Electrical Engineer Rehan Qasim and Chemical Engineer Ayesha Khurram received six gold medals each.
The convocation was presided over by the Chancellor of UET and Governor of Punjab, Sardar Salim Haider Khan. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir delivered the welcome address, highlighting the university’s achievements in academics and research, along with future plans and goals. He emphasized that UET graduates are valuable assets to Pakistan and play a prominent role in the country’s development. Congratulating the graduates, he acknowledged the efforts of parents and teachers, urging students to always honor them.
Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan praised UET’s engineers for contributing to the nation’s progress and commended the university’s rising position in international and Asian rankings, attributing the success to the merit-based leadership of the Vice Chancellor and his team.
Addressing the graduates, he called upon them to work alongside the government to find sustainable solutions to critical issues like poverty, water scarcity, environmental pollution, and natural disasters. He also highlighted the IT sector as a highly profitable avenue for bringing socio-economic prosperity to Pakistan.
The convocation concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the Governor by the Vice Chancellor. The event ended on a celebratory note, with students tossing their graduation caps in the air. The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Syndicate members, Deans of various faculties, heads of departments, administrative officers, and a large number of students. Proud parents shared the joy of their children’s accomplishments.
