LAHORE: A consultative meeting on the National Education Emergency in Punjab under the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Caucus for Child Rights was held at a private hotel in Lahore, which was chaired by the Convener of the Parliamentary Caucus for Child Rights, Dr Nikhat Shakeel Khan.

The meeting was attended by Members of the National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, Asia Naz Tanoli, Dr. Shazia, Sobia Aslam Soomro and Sara Ahmed.
In the meeting, the Chief Planning Officer of Multan School Education Department and other senior officers briefed the participants about the steps taken to increase the number of school going children in Punjab.
On this occasion, Member of National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani informed about the steps taken to make non-functional schools functional in Multan, to increase the number of school going children in Multan district and its nearby districts and said that under this National Education Emergency Program, schools are being provided with facilities like solar systems, IT departments, water treatment plants, alumni programs are being organized, schools are being upgraded with the support of philanthropists, counseling of parents of students, and testing is being done.
Shazia Subia Aslam Soomro told the participants of the meeting that with the support of Sindh Government Zindagi Trust, beggar children standing at traffic lights and living on the footpaths are being made skilled by providing technical education in schools.
