LAHORE: The late HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was known internationally for his devotion to humanitarian causes driven by his wise leadership, sagacity and vision.

His love for Pakistan (which he called his second home) and its people is reflected in numerous contributions towards medical facilities in urban and rural areas across Pakistan.

The late H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May his soul rest in peace), late H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (May his soul rest in peace) and H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, have sponsored 18 Hospitals and Health Centres fully equipped to provide medical care for people essentially in relatively less-developed places.
These include H.H Sheikh Khalifa Hospital Kharan, H H Sheikh Khalifa Hospital Rojhan, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Healthcare Unit Basima, 250 x beds each hospitals at Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot (Azad Kashmir), H H Sheikh Zayed Medical College & Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, H H Sheikh Zayed Hospital for Women Larkana and H H Sheikh Khalifa Medical Complex Quetta and H H Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore, Regular Medical Camps are organized in far flung areas to provide communities with basic healthcare, where specialists (from Army and Civil) examine and treat the patients on site.
In addition, veterinary camps are also organized to treat the livestock of locals in the area like the Cholistan Desert, Rahim Yar Khan in coordination with Cholistan Development Authority and elsewhere in coordination with medical authorities.
H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has always responded promptly in relief efforts during devastations caused by floods and natural calamities anywhere in Pakistan by arranging food items, tents, blankets and medicines. UAE provided over 371 million units of Polio vaccines to more than 57 million children between 2014-2018 through anti-polio drive under UAE-PAP (Pakistan Assistance Programme).
The whole-hearted support and donations following heavy floods in 2022 were gratefully acknowledged by affectees.
“It is my duty as the leader of the young people of this country to encourage them to work and to exert themselves in order to raise their own standards and to be of service to the country.
“The individual who is healthy and of a sound mind and body but who does not work commits a crime against himself and society.”
