LAHORE: The delegation of PASSCO Staff Union led by Zahid Zulfiqar called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan here today.
During the meeting, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider reaffirmed the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of government employees, emphasizing that he will not support any initiatives that harm their economic well-being. He highlighted the People’s Party’s track record of creating jobs and its dedication to standing with employees, as envisioned by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He also expressed concerns about the potential dissolving of PASSCO, which would negatively impact farmers, cultivators, and 3000 employees.The Governor Punjab said that PASCO, founded by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, is not only self-sustaining but also generating revenue for the government. He said that the government’s decision not to purchase wheat or provide support price to the would severely affect the agriculture sector and lead to a difficult situation regarding wheat in the country next year.

The members of the delegation informed the Punjab Governor of their reservations of potential dissolving the PASSCO. Governor Punjab assured them of conveying their concerns to the President and Prime Minister.
Later, a friendly cricket match was held between Showbiz Star XI and Governor XI at the Governor House Lahore, with Governor XI emerging victorious by 8 wickets. On this occasion , the Punjab Governor emphasized the importance of healthy activities and appreciated the efforts of Lahore Qalandar and Civil City in promoting sports.
